KeyStone Species 0.2

Can you guess how many Elephants are killed everyday?
But first let's understand why our planet needs this huge creature.
● Elephants plant trees and grow forests.
Elephants eat a lot. They eat grass, leaves, fruits and even
barks. Plants and trees can grow from their poop. And because
elephants roam in forests, forests become more wide and diverse.
Elephants can disperse a seed upto 50 kilometers away from the
parent tree.
● Elephants dig water holes.
Elephants use their tusk or trunk to dig water holes in
extremely dry areas. ANd this water hole can be converted into water
bodies easily. Through which other species can also drink water.
● Elephant give homes to microhabitats
We all know how heavy elephants are and they being heavy is a
bliss for small species. When elephants walk they create huge
footprints which can be filled with water and these footprints are
an entire world for small species. And sometimes even frogs lay eggs
in these footprints.
● There are only a few left. There are around 20,000 thousand
elephants left in India and According to the reports out of
20,000 there are only 800 males left.
.
Around 100 elephants are killed all around the world
